Thanks for sharing. I have several large tats. I also come from a family where no one has tattoos, and they see them as taboo. I respect their beliefs, and the ink isn't coming off now, lol. I actually have another appointment with my artist in a couple of weeks. It's funny that you had your second one in Colorado Springs. Ironically, the artist that's done all of my work was found in Colorado Springs at Fallen Heros Tattoo shop. Like you, the majority of mine (11 total) have some sort of significant meaning to my life. From my daughter, my love of running, military service, gardening, Halloween, and family heritage to having one done "just for fun." I really like yours because they're small and they look really great on you. Sometimes I feel like mine are so large, but I do love them, and it's been neat listening to your reasons as we sound alike in our reasons for getting them. I have a huge haunted house on my right hip, as my daughter and I love Halloween and fall. The hardest thing is going out to sunbathe and having to put on sunscreen for so many tattoos, hahaha. I use the Neutrogena sunscreen sticks to try and protect them as much as possible. My next ones will be religious in nature, with maybe a cross and bible verses, and I'm not sure what else, but I have a full session set aside with my artist. Thanks again for sharing!

Awesome what you did for your husband and thanks for sharing. Hopefully, he doesn't have too many more deployments during the holidays. We're set to go to Niger, Africa, for six months this spring/summer into fall, but thankfully, we'll be back before the holidays this time. The bad thing about Niger is that it can take up to two months to receive anything. Most of our team is shipping quite a bit of stuff out there 4-8 weeks before we leave and shipping enough to last the six months. Tell your husband next time he stays home with you for the holidays. 🙂

Discovered northern Georgia hiking July 2023 and fell in love with the areas. The weather was fabulous and after the terrible heat and humidity in Florida, I was in heaven. The trails with streams and waterfalls were my favorites.

I've only done one backpacking trip. I want to learn more. Why do you have all that dehydrated food when you have to add water to it to make it edible? Why not just bring something that already has the water in it? Of course it's heavier but don't you have to carry your water anyway?

Nice recommendations…any other foods/snacks you would recommend that are like “shelf stable” for 3-4 days. Stuff that can just be stored in a ruck bag an taken out to eat without to much concern?…
